We made it! (And celebrated!)

We officially hit the 100th day of our K5 homeschool year! It’s a milestone worth celebrating, marking consistency, progress, and a whole lot of learning (for both the kids and the parents!).

Why celebrate 100th day of school?

Reaching 100 days can feel like a huge accomplishment, especially when some days feel longer than others. Beyond the obvious “we did it!” factor, celebrating the 100th day offers several benefits:

Reinforces Consistency: It acknowledges the dedication and effort put into homeschooling.

Boosts Motivation: A fun celebration can reignite enthusiasm for learning.

Creates Lasting Memories: Special activities make the homeschool experience more memorable.

Provides a Sense of Community: Sharing your celebration with other homeschooling families can be encouraging.

So, how did we celebrate this momentous occasion? Let me share some ideas that worked for us, and hopefully inspire you for your own 100th homeschool day celebration.

100th day festivities

I kept our festivities simple. To allow free time for the “fun stuff”, leading up to 100th day, I had them do a little extra work each day so that on the 100th day there was less of the formal curriculum and more celebration.

Keeping it simple & adaptable is key!

READING

I found a book to read about the number 100. You guessed it! Its called 100th Day of school! (Click on image to be taken to link)

Its a simple story of a classroom celebrating 100th day of school and doing 100 things, children love having a little window into how others celebrate.

MATH

Counting to 100 in intervals, using pennies, nickels, dimes, and $1 bill/loonie

Activities

Making cheerio/fruitloops necklace by sorting colors by 10’s. If you’d like to make your own cereal for this (Homemade Cereal)

CRAFT/ART

Making 100th homeschool day glasses, because they’re cool!

Countdown chain! This is a good time to make a countdown chain! It is such a rewarding feeling for them to take off a link every day, for parents to watch it shrink, and for those who live in a cold climate, a visual reminder that warm days are coming!

100 Movements / exercises

Movement is an important factor to learning! If you need an excuse to get them up and moving, use this!

Adapt and Enjoy!

Remember, these are just suggestions. Adapt them to your children’s ages, interests, and your homeschooling style. The most important thing is to have fun and celebrate this milestone achievement!

IT’S A BIG DEAL!
