Homeschooling doesn’t require a Pinterest-perfect school room or a closet full of supplies. Over the years, we’ve found a handful of products that make our days run smoother, keep learning fun, and help us stay organized.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to refresh your homeschool space, these are the items we reach for again and again.

This page contains our favorite homeschool supplies and resources and affiloate links at which I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. I’ll continue updating it as we discover new favorites.

What are the most important homeschool supplies for beginners?

If you’re just starting out, I recommend:

  • laminator.
  • Good quality pencils.
  • Dry erase pockets.
  • Paint markers.
  • Storage bins.
  • A printer
  • Educational games
  • Simple math manipulatives you already own (buttons, m&ms, beads etc)

What homeschool supplies do I use most often?

  • Writing Utensils
  • Portable upholstery cleaner
  • educational games
  • Storage systems
  • Books

Do you need a dedicated homeschool room?

No! Many homeschool families successfully learn at kitchen tables, living rooms, and outdoor spaces. The right organization systems matter far more than having a dedicated room.

Storage & Organization

Keeping supplies organized makes it easier for kids to learn independently and helps prevent overwhelm. They can easily grab supplies as needed and know where they go after they are done using supplies.

Rolling Cart

Perfect for rotating activities, art supplies, or current unit studies. Ours fits neatly into our coat closet in the hallway and is the perfect height for independency.

Here is a list of our favorites

Laminator

A homeschool favorite for creating reusable worksheets and activities:

But you can also use page protectors and clear folders if you dont want to laminate!

Printer

A good printer goes a long way! At first I got a simple & cheap hp printer. I signed up.for their ink subscription program and thought I was saving. Boy was I wrong! Eventually there was a glitch and I had spent HOURS upon HOURS with customer service trying to figure it out. It took 7 days atleast and no solution was agreed upon. So I no longer reccomend even the brand.

I got a Canon Inkject printer have been able to print over 15 full sets of books for my kids on just the ink that came with the printer!

Play-Doh

While buying play-doh is quick & easy, making your own is most cost effective but you can also bulk make your own to share with siblings or use as party favors! As well as making your own involves lots of different subjects like match ,reading , and fine motorskills. My favorite taste recipe is here, I have the supplies below

Furniture & Learning Spaces

Creating inviting spaces encourages curiosity and independent learning.

Children’s Table & Chairs

Raising bilingual children doesn’t require expensive curriculum, but having the right resources makes consistency much easier. These are some of our favorite tools for supporting language development at home.
