Home made Cereal
We’re diving into the world of homemade cereal! We’re talking about a simple and customizable recipe that you and your kids can make together! Cooking with your children is a fantastic way to get those busy littles ones involved in the kitchen and bond with you, build life skills, learn to read a recipe (Hello reading and math lesson!), you also get the opportunity to teach about healthy ingredients, and they will be super stoked to eat cereal they made themselves!

For the cocoa powder in the recipe you can use any food coloring powder form. These are made from actual food to add coloring and sometimes, like the dehydrated strawberries, contain nutrients. Below I have added a few of my favorites, they are already linked all you have to do is click on the image.

Ingredients
- 2/3 cup (60g) oatflour
- 3 tbsp maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
- 3 1/2 tbsp (56 g) nut/seed butter
- 2 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder (or coloring of your choice powder form)

Steps
1
Preheat the oven to 320 F (160 C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.
2
Combine nut/seed butter & maple syrup (or your choice of sweetener) in a bowl and stir with a spoon/mixer.
3
Add oat flour & cocoa powder and mix until combined.
4
Use your hands and knead the mixture into dough. If it is too dry add more maple syrup or nut/seed butter. If it is too wet add oat flour one teaspoon at a time.
5
Divide dough into four pieces and roll them into ropes about 1 inch thick. Then use a knife to cute the ropes into smaller pieces about 1/2-3/4 inch thick, then roll each piece into a ball. This recipe should make you about 120-140 balls. If you want to achieve fruit loop look just poke a hole with a straw.
6
Transfer the prepared cereal balls to the baking sheet with space in between them and bake them for about 10 minutes, more if they are bigger. They will still be soft but quickly firm up as they cool about 10 minutes. If they are still soft put them in the oven for a few more minutes and let cool again.
7
Enjoy with some milk for breakfast and store in an airtight container/bag.
